ЗУСТРІЧ – Space for refugee cultural workers

We are happy to announce that from Wednesday 23rd of March there will be a regular meeting point for Cultural workers who are forced to work in exile. The Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24th created a shocking level of a humanitarian crisis, that affected millions of people. Leipzig cultural spaces and cultural initiatives are here to address this painful topic and create a place of sharing, dialog, and most importantly listening.

MdbK will provide an open space for the meeting point where people can use free Wi-Fi,  have a drink, have conversations, conduct artists’ talks, and organize round tables.

MdbK ЗУСТРІЧ will be open from Tuesday to Sunday from 1to 5 pm  and will be hosting all the interested participants.

Leipzig-based initiative BüKü in collaboration with MdbK offers support for cultural workers on a small scholarship basis to watch over the meeting point and to facilitate the discussions in the amount 700 eu per month. Other cultural initiatives that are interested in networking with Ukrainian artists are more than welcome to join the MdbK meeting point events.

Charity market at HGB

Sunday, 10.04.2022, 10:00-19:00

Why? We want to show solidarity and donate 100% of the proceeds to organisations that work for refugees throughout Europe, as well as directly to artists and cultural workers with refugee experience who will take up a guest residency at the HGB.
To make our event as big as we imagine it to be, we need a lot of support, in the form of:

  • numerous flea market stalls
  • food & soft drinks / catering crew
  • music
  • volunteers
  • Crew for children programme

Locations: main hall and festival hall for the market, music and children progrmme outside in the court yard on the east side (in good weather). If the weather is bad we’ll think about something else.

Set-up: from Saturday afternoon and Sunday between 08:00-10:00 a.m.
For all registrations, questions and ideas please write to us by 25.03. to: soliflohmarkt@hgb-leipzig.de
