Open call Co-Up Festival 8-9 of July

Art projects wanted for the Co-Up Festival!

The “Bürgerbahnhof Plagwitz” will host the Co-Up Festival for the second time from July 08 to 09, 2022.

The festival combines the idea of Co (community) and Up (upcycling). In terms of content, we will focus on the everyday, general handling of waste and resources. Our broad, interdisciplinary program helps raise the audience’s awareness of resource use, convey ecological ideas through artistic methods, and apply it practically.

We invite Leipzig-based artists to submit their ideas for art projects that critically address the issues of waste and pollution.

The festival will take place in an open space, and only partially-closed areas (pavilions) are available. Therefore, we are looking for art projects that are suitable for open spaces. They may take form in performances, objects and sculptures made of recycled and natural materials, or an interactive and participatory production that involve visitors.

There’s a great possibility to spatially integrate the artworks’ exhibition beyond the duration of the festival. However, this form of extended use is not a mandatory requirement for the application.

This year we would like to support Ukrainian artists in particular and we look forward to receiving applications that may be submitted in both English or Ukrainian.

We are looking forward to your application!

Conditions of participation:

A small budget will be provided according to individual agreement.
Understanding that we will take no responsibilities for any damages to the artworks exhibited in the open space.
Please send us your idea in a PDF document with the following information:
